［特集：心あたたまる映画、勇気や元気が出る映画 第四弾］で紹介した、映画『リトル・ランナー』（原題：Saint Ralph）の挿入歌『ハレルヤ（Hallelujah)』は、カナダ出身の詩人・シンガーソングライター、レナード・ノーマン・コーエン（Leonard Norman Cohen）が1984年に発表したものをゴードン・ダウニー（Gordon Downie）がカヴァーしたものである．
主人公の少年の想いを表す上で重要な役割を果たしたこの歌は、この映画以外にも感動のシーンで幾度も使われている．
ゴスペル（Gospel music）を思わせるコーエンのオリジナル.
しかし、アーティストが変わる度にそれぞれ組み立てや言葉が変わり、解釈の違いや歌い方次第で、はかなくも、強くも、メランコリックにも、軽快にもなる、奥の深い歌なのだ．

今では世界中、何百人もの歌手によって歌われるこの『ハレルヤ（Hallelujah)』は、オリジナルのコーエン版よりも、ジョン・ケイル（John Cale）によって歌われたカヴァーに影響されているものが多い．
ファンによって好みもひいきのアーティストも変わるので、聴き比べてみてほしい．
